In this position, you will:

  • Be accountable for casework and resource planning in relation to a range of programs for children in care, foster families, and/or extended family caregivers.
  • Effectively and positively support regional initiatives that continuously improve or enhance service delivery to children and families.
  • Facilitate training or group meetings for educational or supportive purposes.
  • Conduct family evaluations for prospective adoptive, foster, or family-based caregivers.
  • Facilitate placements and provide post-placement maintenance and support.
  • Provide support for caregivers to develop plans in the best interests of children and to establish the necessary support.
  • Plan and prepare for the child’s return home with foster parents or caregivers.
  • Serve as a liaison and consultant with FNCFS and other community agencies, as needed, on matters pertaining to the delivery of services to caregivers and decisions regarding children.
  • Complete documentation in accordance with established professional standards.

Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university, as approved by the SASW/CASW or CASWE; OR Human Service Degree plus relevant related experience; OR Social Work Certificate plus relevant related experience. All out-of-country education must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency accreditation.

Human Service Degrees consist of a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and/or Psychology, Education, Human Justice, or Indigenous Studies, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, in addition to relevant related work experience.
The successful candidate will be required to travel, work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends, and transport minors (or their parents) in the delivery of services.
