In the role of a Health Care Aide (HCA)-Nursing Attendant (NA), you will actively contribute to the Rotary Flames House as a member of the team, delivering direct care to children and families. You will be providing families and children with pediatric palliative care. Palliative care for children is an all-encompassing and proactive approach that considers the child’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

The primary objective of pediatric palliative care is to improve the child’s quality of life while also assisting the family. While a child or youth and their family are guests of the house, the HCA provides direct patient care to aid in activities of daily living, ensure comfort and safety, and operate under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or regulated healthcare professional by the supervision guidelines of their respective colleges. The indirect services rendered by the NA serve to bolster the comprehensive delivery of care within Rotary Flames House.

Whether direct or indirect supervision is utilized will be contingent upon several factors, including the intricacy of the designated task or procedure, the stability of the patient, client, or resident, and the proficiency level of the nursing assistant carrying it out. Required Qualifications:

Directory status that is active in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. As evidence of enrollment, a confirmation letter obtained from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/ is required. Nursing students who are presently registered in an accredited program in Alberta and have accomplished a minimum of 100 hours of practicum will be eligible for consideration. These students must be in their initial year of practical nursing, baccalaureate nursing, or psychiatric nursing. must certify to this compliance and furnish evidence of their credentials.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Five years of experience providing care for children in a professional capacity. Proficiency in computing (Microsoft Office, email). ability to communicate orally and in writing in English with fluency. Furthermore, you will possess the following competencies: the ability to function as a member of a team; the capability to request and accept direction when necessary; effective interpersonal communication skills with visitors, children, families, and fellow team members; a compassionate and caring demeanor that instills dignity and respect for all individuals; initiative, accountability, time management, and problem-solving capabilities; and exceptional organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior work experience at RFH spanning the previous five years. Experience working with children as an HCA in acute or community health care settings within the past five years. Five years of experience working as an HCA in hospice, palliative care, or acute care settings. Present CPR and BCLS. Present N95 suit evaluations. Practical knowledge of Connect Care. Workshop “How to Care, What to Say” completion. Successfully navigating the journey as a health care assistant.
