Job Description:

  • In addition to performing administrative duties and conducting fieldwork, candidates for this position are expected to provide technical services in monitoring, applied science, and other relevant domains.
  • In addition to being appointed to this position, candidates must support the Visitor Safety and Human-Wildlife Coexistence Programs and serve on the Emergency Response Team.

  • To be eligible for this position, candidates must have completed a minimum of one year of postsecondary education in a field associated with the environment and natural sciences.
  • Applicants are required to acquire substantial practical experience in the travel or employment industry.
  • Individuals must acquire specialized experience in the operation, assembly, and management of outdoor and fieldwork equipment.
  • Candidates must acquire a comprehensive understanding of the vegetation, fauna, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and weather patterns that are unique to Pukaskwa National Park.
  • Candidates are required to acquire an in-depth understanding of the Indigenous heritage, culture, and history of Northwestern Ontario.
  • They must acquire the necessary skills to traverse and establish camps in secluded areas with restricted means of communication.
  • To be eligible for this position, candidates must have the ability to collect and record data while adhering to procedures and protocols.
  • In addition, candidates are required to acquire and maintain Reliability Security Status to qualify for this position.
  • Candidates must also be able to don a Parks Canada uniform and safety equipment, as well as adhere to safety procedures, and pass a pre-employment medical examination.
