This is a unique and exhilarating role in which you will work with the Regional Mortuary Manager to establish and maintain a regional mortuary and post-mortem service that encompasses the Health Boards of Swansea Bay and Hywel Dda University.

This will ensure that a regional mortuary service that is safe, secure, effective, and comprehensive is provided while also meeting the needs of the communities, coroners, and pathologists in South West Wales.

It will be your responsibility to provide daily support and supervision to both the APT and the trainee APT. You are required to hold both the Certificate and the Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology. You will be expected to work independently and fulfill a diverse array of responsibilities, which will provide you with a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge and experience.

The mortuary and all of its operations require that you apply your comprehension of the pertinent laws and codes of practice.

Assisting the Mortuary Manager in the delivery of a professional and efficient mortuary service throughout the region, you will be responsible for ensuring that all HTA licensing and regulatory requirements are fully implemented, as well as collaborating and communicating with clinical and non-clinical Health Board staff, chaplaincy, HM Coroners, police, and funeral directors.

Duties of Regional Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician:

  • You will be responsible for the daily line management and supervision of the site-based Mortuary Service in this intriguing and diverse position, providing strong leadership and support to all staff.

  • You will be accountable for the identification and procurement of equipment, as well as the designation and storage of the deceased, in collaboration with the mortuary manager. You will be accountable for maintaining the standards of the Human Tissue Authority’s (HTA) licenses for the following:
